About me
Jennifer Zimmerli teaches at Olathe Northwest High School in Kansas, where she is the assistant facilitator of the e-Communication academy. She is the leader of the graphic design strand, event director of the senior exhibition, and head coach of the esports team. Jennifer is also a member of the building leadership team, the superintendent’s advisory council, and she runs the #1 classroom in the district for technology deployment.
Jennifer’s teaching focus includes graphic design and business web design. Additional subject areas include video production, foundations, and journalism. Students in her classes gain workplace experience through project-based learning and client interactions.
This year, Jennifer is piloting an esports program across five high schools in the district. In addition, she is a doctoral candidate at Rockhurst University studying K-12 technology leadership and STEAM education. Jennifer is researching the impact of esports participation on student perceptions of belonging and academic achievement.
As an educator in-community, Jennifer has a particular interest in education policy and advocacy for diverse learners, particularly students who face physical and invisible learning challenges. Jennifer works to educate others on the importance of including accessibility in DEI initiatives.
